Spend less time mixing drinks, more time drinking them (and socialising, that too…)

If you looked outside right now, you might think we’re a bit crazy to suggest some delicious cocktail pitchers that will be perfect for outdoor dining.

But if your plans get a little derailed by the weather, these pitchers will still go a long way to help securing you the title of host(ess) with the most(ess)!

We love making drinks when friends come round, but we also haven’t really seen anyone in a year, so preferably we’d rather not spend the entire day/evening slaving away over a hot… cocktail shaker?!

As it's National Picnic Week (an incredibly important week in the calendar!), we thought we'd share 5 great cocktail pitcher recipes that are quick to make, easy to drink – and really delicious.

Clockwork Orange Insane pitcher

100ml Conker gin

100ml Cointreau

300ml fresh orange juice

30ml sugar syrup

Slices of orange and lemons

350ml Cava/Prosecco to finish

Add ice to a large jug (at least 1 litre). Pour in the gin and Cointreau, stirring gently. Add the orange juice, orange and lemon slices and the sugar syrup. Stir again to combine and top up with the fizz. Serve in a small wine glass or a Nick & Nora glass with one large ice cube.

Slushy Strawberry and Peach Mojito

1 litre Nexba Strawberry and Peach Kombucha

200ml white rum

4 ripe yellow peaches

A punnet of strawberries

Juice of 3 limes

Mint leaves, for garnish

You might need to do this one in batches, unless you have a really big blender! Combine all your ingredients (except the ice and mint leaves) in a high-power blender. Blend until slushy-like texture is reached. Divide ice cubes between two glasses and then pour over the slushy cocktail. Garnish with strawberries and mint.

Summer Rummer pitcher

100ml Goslings Black Seal rum

300g frozen summer fruits

4 Jazz apples (juiced)/100ml apple juice

350ml Prosecco to top

Take the frozen summer fruits straight from the freezer and blend with apple juice until you have a smoothie-like consistency. Add ice to large jug and pour the smoothie mixture on top. Pour in your rum and stir well. Top with Prosecco. Serve with one large ice cube in a single rocks glass and garnish with a mint sprig.

White Sangria

1 lime, thinly sliced into rounds

1 lemon, thinly sliced into rounds

1 peach/nectarine, thinly sliced

Handful of sliced strawberries

Handful of fresh mint

50g sugar

60ml brandy

750ml (bottle) of Freixenet Sauvignon Blanc

Add your lime, lemon and sugar to a large pitcher. Muddle or gently crush with a wooden spoon for 45 seconds. Add brandy and muddle again to combine for 30 seconds. Add nectarine and strawberries and stir to incorporate. Add the wine and stir again. Taste and adjust flavour as needed, adding more sugar for sweetness, lemon/lime for acidity, or fruit. Stir to combine. When you're ready to serve, add ice, stir again. Serve with mint.

Strawberry Gin Smash

250ml Hernö Pink BTL Gin

375ml soda water

1/2 tbsp coconut sugar

Handful of fresh strawberries

Juice of a lime

Fresh basil for garnish

Cut the lime into small pieces, add the sugar, place in a cocktail shaker and muddle well to help release those oils from the peel and incorporate the sugar to the juice. Strain into the jug and then add half the punnet of strawberries before smashing everything together. Next add ice, the Hernö gin, the rest of the strawberries which have been sliced and some basil leaves. Gently stir the ingredients together before topping up with the soda water. Serve in highball glasses with strawberries and basil to garnish.

  • I miss socializing... Sort of. I have learned to love my quiet alone drinking time. 🤣

These do look tasty and perfect for a good bbq.
