The sun is shining, the weather is sweet. Makes you wanna… drink some smoothies for breakfast. This is about the time of year I switch into full smoothie mode. It feels right. It’s light when you wake up in the morning, and embracing the day with a fruity, cold, filling, nutritious – and obviously delicious – smoothie couldn’t be better.

While you can make smoothies with all sorts of milks and yogurts and powders and things, we want these recipes to be healthy, nutritious, give you a good protein boost, and keep you full until lunch. There's only one thing for it – we’re using a base of deliciously thick Arla Skyr yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 150g Arla Skyr Mixed Berries yogurt
  • 50ml milk of your choice
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 100g mixed frozen berries
  • ...Toppings (optional)...
  • Coconut flakes
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Add all your ingredients (except your toppings) to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Split your smoothie between two bowls. Top with your choice of toppings.
  3. Enjoy!

  • 150g Arla Skyr Natural yogurt
  • 70ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 1tsp espresso powder or good instant coffee, or a strong espresso – we used Nescafe Azera
  • 1tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 frozen banana, cut into slices (before freezing, much easier!)

Instructions

  1. Combine all your ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass, top with a little dusting of cocoa powder if you’re feeling fancy.
  3. Enjoy.

  • 150g Arla Skyr natural yogurt
  • 150ml coconut water
  • 1/2 avocado, peeled, stoned and chopped
  • Chunk of cucumber, chopped
  • 50g frozen pineapple chunks
  • A big ole' handful of spinach

Instructions

  1. Add all your ingredients to a blender and blitz under smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour into a glass, admire the green, and enjoy.

  • 150g Arla Skyr Vanilla yogurt
  • 70ml milk of your choice
  • 1 passion fruit
  • 1 frozen banana, cut into slices
  • 50g frozen mango chunks
  • 50g frozen pineapple chunks

Instructions

  1. Pop all your ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. This one will be extra thick and cold.
  2. Pour into a glass, sit back, close your eyes, and imagine you’re on a beach somewhere wonderful.

Blue/Green and fruity spirulina smoothie

Feeling in the need for a superfood smoothie? Of course you are. This one’s packed full of nutrients, and contains everyone’s favourite algae – spirulina. If you haven’t tried it before, it’s a blue-green algae that is seriously high in protein, as well as containing calcium, iron, magnesium and vitamins A, E and K. It’s a dream team paired with Arla Skyr yogurt.

  • 150g Arla Skyr Natural yogurt
  • 70g milk of your choice
  • 50g frozen strawberries
  • 1 frozen banana, cut into slices
  • 1 tsp spirulina

Instructions

  1. Add all your ingredients to the blender and process until smooth and thick. You may need a little more milk if it’s tooooo thick.
  2. Pour into a glass, add toppings if you want any, and enjoy.
