My wife and I just celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary, and we followed our yearly tradition of enjoying good beef. The tradition stretches back to the roots of our relationship, from when I tried impressing my then wife-to-be by cooking steaks on a little camp grill on the balcony of my apartment. At our wedding, filet was definitely a requirement at the reception. Our first anniversary was celebrated at New York Prime, in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. This year, we went to another seriously high-end Atlanta establishment for our anniversary steak; Chops.

After drinks were delivered to our table, we started our steak dinners in the same manner we always start a really good, special steak dinner; by ordering Caesar salads. The Caesar at Chops is so damn good, adorned by delicately fileted anchovies. It's a big salad too! Unfortunately, I was very excited and didn't take a picture of ours before we had demolished them.

But the stars of the show are the steaks and lobster tails! My wife and I ordered the same exact things; 8 oz. filets - medium rare. I added a lightly tempura fried Nova Scotia lobster tail to mine, as well as black truffle butter for on top of my filet. My wife ordered two side items for our meal; brussels sprouts with mushrooms, and GIGANTIC onion rings.

The dinner was sooooooooooo ridiculously good! The steak was beautifully tender and perfectly medium rare through the center. The black truffle butter was so good that I wanted lick it off the plate! The brussels sprouts and mushrooms made for a nice accompaniment to the steak dinner to punctuate the flavors on the plate occasionally. The absolutely GIGANTIC onion rings helped soak up a little of the black truffle butter from my plate, making them the best onion rings I've ever had. But to me, the highlight was the lightly tempura fired lobster tail! The tempura batter on the outside allowed the drawn butter to cling to it. It was fried perfectly and had a really enjoyable texture. The flavors were just awesome; butter, fried batter, and lobster!

After we had cleaned our plates (and let me tell you, they were clean!), our serving staff brought out a complimentary anniversary surprise of chocolate bread pudding. Bread pudding happens to be one of my wife's most favorite deserts! It made for a nice end to our decadent meal, along with an expresso.

Holy damn! I wish I could eat like that every evening. But it's nice to have meals like this to celebrate very special occasions, and I can't think of anything more important to celebrate than being married to my beautiful wife.

Damn! I love this woman!
