If you are a casual diner at the Portuguese-African restaurant, you may order your food with the Lemon & Herb or Medium spice level on the Peri-ometer. If you are a regular customer, you may opt for the Hot Peri Peri sauce. However, only a few brave souls dare to venture further and try the Extra Hot sauce as it often turns the diner's face into a chili. Enter Nando's fieriest sauce to date: the Extra, Extra Hot.

You may recall the Extra, Extra Hot sauce being previously available on supermarket shelves, however, this is a totally different product. Dubbed the 'VUSA XX', it is only available at your local Nando's and reserved for the wildest of hearts. The word 'Vusa' appropriately translates to "excitement and fire" in Zulu as the sauce contains African Bird's Chilli. This demonic spice contains 100,000 Scoville heat units, which is about double that of the hottest tabasco sauce.

The VUSA XX is in a league of its own and sits above 'Extra Hot' on the Peri-ometer.

The VUSA XX will be available until mid-May as part of Nando's rotating limited edition flavour scheme. Order with caution, keep a cool beverage nearby and locate your nearest bathroom. You can read more on the Extra, Extra Hot via Nando's website by clicking the link below.

  • No, it's too hot

  • Bring it. But I wouldn't like it if it's just plainly hot with no flavor.

    • Totally agree, though Nando's sauces always carry flavour with the heat
