This is... well, first and foremost this is genius. It is an AMARO, which is Italian bitter, made from beer. Amaro, according to Wikipedia, is a herbal liqueur 'that is commonly consumed as an after-dinner digestif'. And that's actually 100% accurate. Italians drink amaro(s) all the time. It tastes bitter-sweet, depending on a variety of factors, and you can make it out of a few or many different herbs.

This particular amaro is made with herbs and spices using Xyauyรน beer, adding several lavender, absynthe and gentiana herbs in the mix at the end of the process. Baladin, an Italian beer producer, calls it the Beermouth (beer+vermouth).

Not too strong, ABV is 'only' 20% ABV, and best served cold but not frozen. I haven't tried it (yet) but I like Amaro and I definitely like Baladin beers, so win-win, I guess.

  • Ooh, so I've had a 'beer vermouth' once before in my life and it was AMAZING... it had been made from Hobgoblin beer. I reckon this will be wonderful.
