- BIR Base Gravy, after Abdul Salam

Base Gravy

It might look like Tomato and mascarpone sauce, but it tastes better. This is what I got from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpqMBueLBtI

Pretty much per the demo, albeit with a red capsicum. It looks like and has the consistency of Tomato and Mascarpone, but does not have the artificial taste that the shop bought sauce has and it has interesting spices, although more subtle than I expected. I'm looking forward to many BIR curries to come. ;-)

The trays are ASDA silocone and each cube is about 30, maybe 35ml from memory. groceries.asda.com/product/serverware-condiments/george-home-silicone-ice-cube-tray - I really like them!

  • I should add - I think this would do quite well as a veggie (vegan even? I did use a bit of ghee) sauce for pasta. Its not like other BIR bases I've tried. And I think that came to about 1.4l, which will dilute to much more for comparison with other BIT bases.

    • Clearly talking to myself on here about BIR cooking, but this gravy is pretty good in BIR kormas and I expect to try other dishes soon. As pictured the cubes are about 35g/40ml and I dilute about 3 times, so its kind on freezer-space.
