A powerful antioxidant!

Basil is known for its strong antioxidant properties. The antioxidants found naturally in basil protect the body from damage caused by free radicals, prevent the aging of cells and the development of several cancers. Antioxidants are an important part of a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle, and basil is their reliable and effective source.

One of the basil antioxidants is beta-carotene. Beta-carotene, which is converted to vitamin A in the body, prevents the oxidation of cholesterol in the bloodstream and thus protects the heart and blood vessels. Free radical damage contributes to the development of many other diseases, including asthma, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Beta-carotene from basil is a great way to prevent these diseases.

It protects the heart and blood vessel

Basil is a good source of Vitamin B6 and magnesium. Vitamin B6 prevents the accumulation of a potentially dangerous molecule homocysteine. Magnesium promotes cardiovascular health by helping to relax muscles and blood vessels. This improves blood flow and reduces the risk of irregular heart rhythm.

Magnesium strengthens the heart muscle and prevents heart attack.

Natural antibiotic

Studies have shown that basil oil has a beneficial effect on immunity. Fresh leaves and basil oil have antibacterial and antiseptic properties and can be used to treat infections. You can also use basil locally - basil leaves placed on wounds prevent bacterial infections.

Basil in food

Basil scented leaves are used in many kitchens and are paired with different types of dishes. To maintain its flavor, add basil to the dish at the end. Whenever you can, choose fresh basil as it has a more intense taste than dried. Basil earned fame and recognition in kitchens around the world from Pesto Genovese, green sauce of basil, pine nuts and parmigan.

From freshly chopped basil with garlic and olive oil, you can prepare an excellent sauce, which you can serve with a variety of dishes such as pasta, rice and bruschetta.

From basil you can also prepare a simple ice dessert. Mix chopped basil with lemon juice, sugar cane juice and water, then freeze the mixture like ice cubes. When frozen, grind them with a blender and serve them as an ice-cream dessert in the Mediterranean style. Or, make a fresh, delicious and multicolored Italian salad of fresh basil, mozzarella and tomato.
