Bollinger 007 bar opens in the oldest arcade in London

Care for a glass of Champagne?

I went to the Burlington Arcade once. It’s a five-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus and some call it the ‘oldest shopping mall’ in London. Which it is, in a way. It really depends on your definition of a ‘mall’ but the Burlington Arcade opened in 1819, and it’s an institution in the UK. Just like James Bond. So, if you had to open a Bollinger’s 007 bar in London, where would you do it?

James Bond famously drinks Bollinger champagne (the brand first appeared in the 1973 film Live And Let Die, but the partnership officially began in 1981) and in order to celebrate the release of Bond 25 - No Time To Die - Bollinger and EON Productions teamed up to open the world’s first Bollinger 007 Champagne bar and the only standalone branded bar in London. And they obviously had to pick a unique and special location.

Spread across two floors, the Bollinger bar welcomes guests with a replica model of the iconic Aston Martin DB5. The bar, located on the ground floor, is adorned with gold leaf walls and brass and marble furniture, while the top floor will be used as a lounge.

The bar is obviously also as a shop, where you can buy, among other things, the Bollinger 007 Limited Edition Millésimé 2011 – a vintage Champagne created entirely from Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru village of Aÿ. There’s also a limited edition gift box, which includes a bottle of Bollinger Special Cuvée and… an Aston Martin DB5 model.

The Burlington Arcade is situated at 51 Piccadilly, W1J 0QJ, London.

  • Love all of the Bond movies, though everyone has their favorite Bond movie in the franchise and also favorite James Bond actor(s), a wonderful video for James Bond aficionados (I love the franchise but I'm not as proficient as many other Bond fans), a wonderful compilation and infusion on Bollinger and Bond together, shaken, not stirred!

  • Now that brings back some wonderful childhood memories. Burlington arcade is an amazing place.

As a child my dad used to take me to the latest bond film release, usually at the Odeon Leicester Square as a birthday treat. After that it was the golden egg, if anyone remembers.

Burlington arcade was not so far away, marvellous.

I particularly remember on her majesty's secret service, Timothy Dalton.

Prior to the film dad took me to the vaults of Barclays Bank Cockspur street. This is where the gold bars were kept. Piled like a pyramid the security guard said I could pick one up. Christ it was heavy. The pyramid was around 3m high.

Would this happen today? Not a chance 🙂🍷😂

  • When I said Timothy Dalton I obviously meant to say George lazenbe. Apologies for the memory loss.🤔
